24in48 Readathon


This weekend the 24in48 hours readathon takes place. The rule is simple: reading for 24 hours in a span of 48 hours.

I did it last year and had so much fun so I decided to take part in it again although I'm not sure how much reading I could get done since I wanted to celebrate my birthday with my grandma and rest of the family this weekend so we can all be together even though my birthday isn't until next week. However, I know I would find some time to relax and read a couple of pages here and there. Here is my TBR:

  • The Ballroom by Anna Hope. An historical fiction novel set in the Edwardian era about an asylum in the Yorkshire moors. Can't get better than that really.
  • The Thing Around Your Neck by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. A short story collection where the author explores the cultures of both Africa and the West.
  • What Is Not Yours Is Not Yours by Helen Oyeyemi. Another short story collection - I think they are great for readathons because you can have breaks between each story - in which all stories are connected through the idea of keys.

Reading Diary | February Books | 2018

Feb, 1st - 15:15. Finished the second book in the first volume of the Riyria Revelations and I was pleasantly surprised. I still think the world building is the weakest thing about the story because it's not greatly developed but the story is well-written and entertaining. I'm planning on continuing reading the series because now I'm intrigued enough to want to know how everything will unfold. Feb, 7th - 10:33.  I'm finally prepared to go and see the movie Call Me By Your Name because I just finished reading the novel. I enjoyed it quite a bit. It is a celebration of love and an exploration of sex and identity. It's quite explicit though so if you feel uncomfortable with that keep it in mind if you're planning on reading it.
